Welcome to The Philippines
Mabuhay!
The Republic of the Philippines is an archipelago with more than 7,100 islands
that offers diverse attractions -- mountains and volcanoes, bays and lakes,
uncrowded beach coves, world-class resorts, and picturesque towns and villages
with their old churches and ancestral homes. The Banaue rice terraces, built
by the Ifugaos mountain tribe more than 2,000 years ago, has been called the
eighth wonder of the world. Fresh seafood and tropical fruits, colorful festivals,
and the legendary hospitality of the Filipino people complete the tropical setting.
The Philippines is currently celebrating the centennial of its independence,
after centuries of Spanish and American colonization, whose influences on the
culture are still recognized in Latino attitudes and traditions (the Philippines
is the only predominately Catholic nation in Asia) and the wide-spread use of
English (the Philippines is the fourth-largest English-speaking nation in the
world).
Real Estate in The Philippines
The real estate sector was severely hit by the Asian monetary crisis in 1997.
Increased prices for construction materials, coupled with a decline in the number
of prospective buyers, caused many developers to stop building new projects.
Existing projects are still being sold and an all out effort is being made to
attract purchasers from among Filipinos living abroad and foreign buyers.
