Welcome to Germany
Willkomen!
After 40 years of division, the Federal Republic of Germany is experiencing
the long-awaited joy -- and economic pain -- of reunification. The country boasts
Europe's largest -- and the world's third most powerful -- economy. The German
work ethic is legendary. But Germans also take their leisure time seriously,
and the ubiquitous German "fests", when the beer barrels are rolled
out and sausages are thrown on the grill, are equally famous. Germany also offers
the best of the Great Outdoors: the Bavarian Alps, the Black Forest, the Rhine
River. The transportation system is renowned, from the fast, clean and punctual
trains to the speed limit-free autobahns.
Real Estate in Germany
With more than 20,000 full and part time agents, real estate is virtually unregulated
in Germany, with educational institutions having only recently begun developing
real estate courses. It is estimated that the annual turnover in traditional
housing market is about DM250 billion. the market is growing due to greater
mobility, private pension schemes and a growing number of second home purchases.
